THE EMERGENCE OF FAKE "CR" 1999 RM1.00 10TH SERIES ALI ABUL HASSAN

Not "if" but "when" was the question of the the emergence of fake prefix "CR" RM1.00 will surface in the market ? You dont have to wait for long and now you have the answer.

It was issued in the year of 1999 by the then governor Ali Abul Hassan of Malaysia. Fake numismatics items will emerge be it coins or paper money once the price is high and just becareful of what you buy especially those ungraded ones. There are many high quality fake items emerged in the market and you can't hardly tell the differences unless you're very well verse in knowledge because of the availability of high tech equipment to make them.

These are the screen shots taken from MUDAH Malaysia another e-commerce platform (similar to ebay) from the seller's page. He/She was selling these fake "CR" solid # 4 and low number # 8.

The genuine serial number was issued from CR 7200000 to CR 7250000 and there were 50,000 pieces issued unintentionally by Bank Negara Malaysia and released to commercial banks for circulation but were too late to retrieve back from the public. It was reported the bank released the CR was from Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

It is wiser to buy graded coins/banknotes to eliminate any doubts you might have in your collections.

This will be my last post before Hari Raya Puasa and i would like to wish all my muslim friends "SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI" on 28th & 29th July 2014 and drive safe during "balik kampung" and to those non muslim friends "HAPPY HOLIDAY" !

Happy reading.

BUYING OPPORTUNITY CAME KNOCKING TWICE...

See the wonder of football world cup and couple with holy month of Ramadan when things are slow and this is what happen when people lose their bets thus creating buying opportunity. Good items won't come knocking on your doors always and when it does you must grab it without hesitation.

During good times collectors held on tightly on their rare stuffs and won't sell to you even you offered to buy from them whereas during slow months coupled with loss bets these collectors offers to sell their good items to you in contrast.

These are my recent requisition...

BUYING OPPORTUNITY AND MALAYSIA IMPOSE GST APRIL 2015

There are many buying opportunities arises during the month of world cup and the holy month of ramadan for the muslims. Most people are glued to their TV sets and attention were focused on the world cup and day became nights and nights became day for us living in the far east. There was a saying goes like this "tidur bola, makan bola, tengok bola, main bola" for the football fanatics and ardent fans and they can't focus on other things.

The buying opportunities comes from these numis collectors whom have loss their bets on world cup and are liquidating their collections some at losses to pay to the bookies.

As for the muslims collectors they are saving their money to buy new clothes, new car, buying gifts for their loved ones, open house and etc for the coming Hari Raya Puasa celebration on 28th July 2014.

Generally speaking the prices on some numismatics were weak as there are not as much attention given when items were on auction resulting weak realize prices.

The prices won't stay low for long and you should buy now.

Every Malaysians ought to know by now that Malaysia will impose GST of 6% in April 2015, eventually everything will be more expensive once GST are imposed. Please dont be naive if you think those traders be it in coffee shops, sundry shops, mee goreng mamak and others will only increase by a mere 6% only ?
The price of a kopi-o from Ali cafe under the tree is RM1.20 now then it should rightfully be 6% increase or an increase of RM0.07cents next year or rounded up figure RM1.30 am i right ? You should be prepared for an increase of between 15% - 20% generally for everything start from the basic needs and onwards.

This will also affect the prices for numismatics too when your banknotes or coins return to you after grading from PMG/NGC. Secondly the cost of living for the dealers has risen from the shop rentals, utilities, car parking fees and etc thus he has to sell his numismatics items at higher price to cover back from the short fall.

You should buy now with your excess money and keep and wait till next year when the prices starting to shoot up.

I know Malaysian collectors tend to have "herd-mentality" always like to chase when the price are surging but refrain from buying when prices are still low. Sound familiar ?

Let me share with you what i have bought recently.....

1941 MALAYA KING GEORGE VI 8 pieces consecutive + 4 pieces consecutive in GEM UNC condition.

These 12pieces are on it's way to PMG and currently somewhere in the Indian Ocean on board Fedex flight.

Happy reading !

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE STRAITS SETTLEMENTS 1925

This series was the most beautiful Straits Settlements bank notes in history and has inspired me to blog more on it. This issue was issued during the reign of King George V between 1916 to 1933 and the uneven cut of the bank notes wasn't due to the paper cutter machine unlike modern times but it was actually cut manually by the use of the ruler by workers in Thomas De La Rue Company UK.

This series printed in 1925 was a replacement of the previous series of $50 and $100 printed in 1916 without the portrait of King George V due to the existent of counterfeits during that time. These new designs included unlike those before a watermark security feature to counter the existent of counterfeits. The barely visible image is most easily identified by an elephant residing within each of the two round voids.

The notes featuring Chinese and Jawi wordings references to the issuing authority at the top and bottom of the note. This series was the first design to include the portrait of King George V with the prowling tiger framed beneath the portrait.

All of the denominations ($50 & &100 & $1000 & $10000) are identical in designs but were distinguished by different colours.

The larger denomination like $1,000 and $10,000 are meant for inter-bank transactions.

Happy reading while watching world cup through the quarter final. I hope Argentina and Brazil will meet each other in the final.
