Commemorative coins last issued by BNM

Set of 2 price RM250.00, mintage 750sets

Single proof 1oz. silver price RM200.00, mintage 2000pcs

Single proof 99.99 pure gold 1/4oz. (7.96grams) price RM1800, mintage 500pcs

Nordic god coin price RM10, mintage 25,000pcs

Just comparing the prices and the quantity issued by MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) versus BNM (Bank Negara Malaysia) last issued in 2014.

In term of pricing and mintages between these two central banks there are vast different. And now let's compare the population of Singapore of 5.47million people (latest survey done in 2014) against Malaysia population of 30.644 293 million people (latest survey done in 1st Jan 2015).

Furthermore Singaporean collectors are also collecting our Malaysian commemorative coins. Do you still think our commemorative coins mintages are high ?

Let me simply put it to you our Malaysia commemorative coins prices are too "cheap' comparing with it's low mintage.

Malaysian collectors tend to have the herd mentality always like to chase up the price when they are too late. So you're advised to buy first before the supply are depleted.

Happy collecting.

  1. Hi Andrew, At least your coins command some value, sad to say most S'pore Mint coins don't! The reason: On Demand (UNLIMITED MINTAGE).... this means that every Ah Beng, Muthu, Ahmad, Harry and probably even a "cockroach" can buy from the mint... so how to be of value except face value, it is a waste of good money. Caveat Emptor! Cheers

  2. Hi Clement,
Thanks for dropping by. Singapore coins are not appealing because of large mintage and high issue price that turn off collectors. Most collectors like to see their collection rise up in value.

    Best regards,
    Andrew
