1967 RM1000 1st SERIES SA-RIBU SELLING FOR RM32,500 (UNGRADED)

The Star 26th Feb 2016

Just some high lights from the recent numismatics fair at Megamall, Penang - a single piece of RM1000 1st series 1967 bank note ungraded (however grade were not mentioned) are selling for RM32,500. The seller claimed the current retail price for this piece of banknote is almost doubled.

Monetarium auction 24th Oct 2014

Mavin auction 14th Nov 2014

Let's look at the past auction results, during the Monetarium auction on 24th Oct 2014 for a single piece of SA-RIBU with 50EPQ AUNC asking for SGD21,000 but the lot was passed. Then comes the Mavin auction there were 2pcs of AUNC 55EPQ & 55 consecutive notes asking for SGD42,000 however the lot was passed without a single bid. Are the asking price too high ?

So question goes back to the above article from the seller Michael Chew asking price for just RM32,500 for and ungraded RM1000 SA-RIBU is it too cheap ?

However, collecting numismatics banknotes are certainly better than keeping money in the bank for sure.

Happy reading.

MALAYSIA 1967 RM10 1ST SERIES "SA-PULOH" ISMAIL ALI STACK GEM UNC

This is a stack of 100 pieces consecutive numbers of the RM10 "SA-PULOH" 1st series condition GEM UNC with beautiful embossment with crisp paper and you can't believe that this stack is 47 year old and still maintain its pristine condition. I will be sending the whole stack to PMG for grading. However there are 10 pieces were foxed with toning that was the last five pieces and the first five pieces hence i did not include them in the pictures.

There are two variety found within the stack, that is "solid thread" and "broken thread". The broken thread variety can be found in every denomination from the 1st series to the 4th series only, however KN Boon catalogue did not mention about these varieties. Whereas for PMG and Krausse World Paper Money book both recognized the variety and label it as PICK # 3b for "broken thread" and PICK # 3a for "solid thread".

There are 30 "broken thread" variety found in this stack out of 100pieces.

This stack is original and have never been washed nor pressed before. The prefix is from B/62 464601 - B/62 464700.

Extracted from KN BOON 7th edition catalogue

MALAYSIA 1967 RM1 1ST SERIES ISMAIL ALI STACK

From the earlier post i did not mention about the broken thread variety found in this stack of RM1 of 100pieces consecutive numbers. There are 28 pieces of broken thread variety found within the stack and was labeled as PICK # 1b by PMG. It is already on its way back to me after grading and i'm eagerly waiting for its arrival on 7th April 2014 by FEDEX.
