THE RETURN OF JUNE SHIPMENT FROM NGC

Sharing with all of you the unboxing of June shipment received on the 31st July 2015.

This lot contains proof coins of various countries and sizes from Malaysian collectors.

The FEDEX Extra Large box came back from NGC  Florida to Penang cost RM850.00 (corporate rates after discount). From Penang to NGC cost RM320.00 (corporate rates after discount).

* There are also 6% GST based on the invoice value incurred for this shipment.

* Insurance cost applies to cover the risk "to-and-from" (Door-to-Door) coverage.

A beautiful Tuvalu 2015 5oz pure silver Mythical Creatures coin weighing almost 1kg, nicely packed separately on the different box. Congratulation to Mr.Sing from KL for the uniqueness and the owner of this coin.

Such a magnificent  proof set of 1978 Singapore PF69. Congratulation to Mr.Hallowei the owner of this set.

China commemorative coins are very popular among asian collectors.  Congratulation to Mr. KS Tan from KL on your chinese coins collection.

Parliament coins has subdued in recent times, the focus and attention has switched to Malaysian commemorative proof coins.

2011 WWF set of 2 remain very popular and it is extremely very hard to obtain "perfect" PF70 especially for the nordic gold coins. Congratulation to Mr.Teoh from Penang the owner of this set.

Very rare proof silver coins mintage between 300pcs to 400pcs only. Congratulation to Mr.Teoh from Penang for obtaining perfect PF70 for 2009 Parliament proof coin.

2014 Malaysia-China proof coins remain very popular among collectors. Congratulation to Mr.Sing from KL, keep collecting.

MALAYSIA PARLIAMENT COIN BROKE RECORD !

Once again two of our Malaysian Parliament coins has broken records for the highest paid in the recent concluded Collectibles Auction Asia in Singapore. The auction was held in Landmark Village Hotel, Singapore on the 4th Oct 2014.

The first record broken was the 1969 50sen Parliament coin Milled Edge (ME), NGC MS65 with a realized price of an astonishing RM81,846.00 ! (SGD28,000 + 15% buyer's premium = SGD32,200 X 2.54180 exchange rate = RM81,846.00).

And the second record broken was the 1970 1sen Parliament coin Copper Clad Steel (mintage less than 100pcs) sold for RM46,275.00. (SGD16,000 + 15% buyer's premium = SGD18,400 X 2.54180 exchange rate = RM46,275.00).

Another 50sen Parliament coin 1967 NGC MS65 Milled Edge sold for RM7600.00 (included buyer's premium).


However there are also some dissapointments :-

1)Malaysia 1969 50sen Parliament coin Security Edge (SE) NGC MS62 sold for only a mere RM820.00 drastically fell from last year 29th Sept 2013 MNS auction record of RM2800.00 for a raw coin - NON GRADED !

2)Malaysia 1971 10sen Parliament coin has cooled down from RM1600.00 for NGC MS66 to several Lot passed of the same grade without any bid. But there was a bid for a low grade 1971 coin graded by NGC "AU Details" for a mere RM295.00 only.

1968 50SEN MILLED EDGE SOLD FOR MYR19,435.00

With the recent concluded auction result from Collectibles Auction Asia 3/2014 auction held at Landmark Village Hotel, Singapore on 19 April 2014. (Office add : Blk 231 Bain Street 02-23 Bras Basah Complex Singapore 904965). It was once again our Malaysian Parliament coins are the favorites and sizzling hot among the coin's collectors. There were two records broken - 1)1968 50sen Milled Edge and 2)1976 1sen made of copper (or popularly know as 1 copper sen).

Malaysia 1968 50sen MILLED EDGE sold for a staggering SGD6500.00 + 15% Buyer's Premium = SGD7475.00 X 2.60exchange rate = MYR19,435.00 !!!  (1968 50sen Milled Edge Auction Price)

Another record was broken is the 1976 1sen made of copper and it was auctioned for SGD4000.00 + 15% Buyer's Premium = SGD4600.00 X 2.60exchange rate = MYR11,960.00.

The coin was graded by PCGS MS64 RB, KM-2 Bronze and it's mintage was less than 100 pieces according to Steven Tan catalogue. (1976 1sen Auction Price)

Another rising star under the radar is the Malaysia 2007 50th Anniversary of Independence raw notes without grading was sold for SGD750.00 for 2 pieces consecutive pair + 15% Buyer's Premium = SGD862.50 X 2.60exchange rate = MYR2242.50 or MYR1121.25 each piece.

The prefix and serial no. are AA 0002760 & AA 0002761 (3 zeroes). (50th Anniv Auction Price)

Malaysia's banknotes and coins are sizzling hot among the collectors.

MALAYSIA PARLIAMENT COIN KEY DATES & SUPER GRADE AND PROOF-LIKE NGC MS68

Our Malaysian Parliament coins are feverish hot ! I have sold 2 pieces of 1971 10sen NGC MS66 immediately after taken possession of my shipment from the post office and before i even got home.

Matter of fact these coins was reserved by few buyers when the grades are known when the coins are still in NGC office. But as usual i told my buyers that my policy are "first come first basis" whoever pay up first they will be the first one i will sell to.

Base on the scale of NGC there are 11 grades from 60 to 70 are considered as UNC and this is how i break them down.

1)MS66 - Highest grade within the scale of UNC 

2)MS67 - Brilliant Uncirculated

3)MS68 - Proof-Like

4)MS69 - Proof-Like

5)MS70 - Perfect ! 

Important Key Date for Parliament series 1971 10sen NGC MS66 X 2 pieces

The highly sought after by collectors the 1971 10sen is a "must have" in every collector's album.

Very hard to achieve this highest grade of UNC.

The highly sought after for the 20sen denomination in Parliament series and is a must have in every collector's album. 

Very hard to achieve this highest grade of UNC.

Proof-Like NGC MS68 20sen 1980

IMPORTANT KEY DATES FOR MALAYSIAN NUMISMATICS, GRADED COINS AND BANK NOTES PART 2

Well this is the second part from my earlier post on 5th Dec'13.

There are many types of numismatics collectors :-

a)some would focus on key dates
b)some would only collect raw banknotes/coins
c)some would only collect graded banknotes/coins
d)some would only collect error banknotes/coins
f)some would only collect high grades banknotes & coins (key dates are not important
for this type of collectors).

So what type of collector are you  ?

Key Dates for coins (Parliament series from 1967 - 1988)

1)1967 proof set from 1sen - 50sen mintage of 500sets minted

2)1970 - 1sen

3)1976 - 1sen Copper variety (less then 100pcs were known to exist)

4)1977 - 5sen
Note : this is a "sleeper" coin not much attention were given to this 5sen coin. The price will explode soon once collectors realized its scarcity.

5)1971 - 10sen (32,236 pcs minted)
Note : according to the NGC census report there are 147pcs graded and 146pcs were graded "UNC" as at today 10/01/14. If you compare with other year there not more than 4 pieces were graded by NGC, hence making the year 1971 10sen the most populated and "common" in UNC condition.

6)1970 - 20sen (1.054million pcs minted)
Note : according to the NGC census report there are 54pcs graded and all were graded "UNC" as at today 10/01/14. Obviously this coin is much rarer in UNC condition than its 1971 10sen. Furthermore the current price is lower than the 1971 10sen. If you are wise you should know which one to be given priority right ?

7)1969 - 50sen (2million pcs minted) Highly sought after and very high profile !
Even with the high mintage of 2million pieces minted how many UNC condition can you find ? It is much rarer than the 1971 10sen. According to the NGC census report there are only 37pcs (Security Edge) graded and only 34pcs (Security Edge) were graded as UNC as at today 10/01/14.

Note : there are many unscrupulous sellers would claim their coin condition are UNC condition but the surface of their coin is similar like the surface of the moon. Hence dont be disappointed when NGC graded as AUNC or worse EF. These type of sellers are common on Ebay.




1969 - 50sen Milled Edge (No security edge)
According to the NGC census report there are only 9pcs graded and just a minor 3pcs were graded "UNC" as at today 10/01/14.

Based on NGC census report do you still think the 1971 10sen still rare ? Your answer is as good as mine.
