THE RETURN FROM NCS & NGC FOR APRIL SHIPMENT

Today i have received my shipment back from NCS & NGC for April's shipment after 33days. The time requires are usually longer by NCS to process the coins thereafter were send to NGC for grading at another department in the same building.

I will now show you the coins before and after NCS conservation service. I think NCS did an amazing job by cleaning and conserving the coins from oxidization and milky spots for both silver and nordic gold coins. You dont have to worry about oxidization for many years ahead.

Large FEDEX box shipped from Florida,US to Penang, Malaysia has costed RM450.00 (corporate rates after discount).

Small FEDEX box from Penang,Malaysia to Florida,US costed RM320.00 (corporate rates after discount).

Most of these coins does not belong to me so i have to respect my clients by blocking the serial numbers.

REDUCTION IN NGC GRADING FEES

I'm pleased to announce that i have revised the NGC grading fees from RM130.00 (previously) to RM115.00 now with 12days turn around time.

MALAYSIA PROOF COINS SECOND UNBOXING FROM NGC

I was amaze with NGC on how fast they grade my proof coins and return back to me.

I sent my proof coins sets to NGC for grading on the 9th February 2015 and received back my coins on 23rd February 2015 (12 working days turnaround time).

This lot contains mostly Malaysia proof coins set of 2 (silver & nordic gold coins) and as expected that the proof nordic gold coins did not grade as high as the silver coins PF70. I'm sharing with you my second unboxing as below here.

The quality of the the nordic gold coins are poorer compare with the silver coins. You will be surprise to find them oxidized even for the recent issues that was issued in 2014. My advice to you send them for grading immediately after BNM releases the coins hence you will have better chance to achieve high grades for both silver and nordic gold coins.

As for the proof silver coins it is advisable to send for grading before 24 months after issued to prevent white spots from developing thereafter. Once encapsulated by NGC the aging of your coins will stop.

IMPORTANT KEY DATES FOR MALAYSIAN NUMISMATICS, GRADED COINS AND BANK NOTES PART 2

Well this is the second part from my earlier post on 5th Dec'13.

There are many types of numismatics collectors :-

a)some would focus on key dates
b)some would only collect raw banknotes/coins
c)some would only collect graded banknotes/coins
d)some would only collect error banknotes/coins
f)some would only collect high grades banknotes & coins (key dates are not important
for this type of collectors).

So what type of collector are you  ?

Key Dates for coins (Parliament series from 1967 - 1988)

1)1967 proof set from 1sen - 50sen mintage of 500sets minted

2)1970 - 1sen

3)1976 - 1sen Copper variety (less then 100pcs were known to exist)

4)1977 - 5sen
Note : this is a "sleeper" coin not much attention were given to this 5sen coin. The price will explode soon once collectors realized its scarcity.

5)1971 - 10sen (32,236 pcs minted)
Note : according to the NGC census report there are 147pcs graded and 146pcs were graded "UNC" as at today 10/01/14. If you compare with other year there not more than 4 pieces were graded by NGC, hence making the year 1971 10sen the most populated and "common" in UNC condition.

6)1970 - 20sen (1.054million pcs minted)
Note : according to the NGC census report there are 54pcs graded and all were graded "UNC" as at today 10/01/14. Obviously this coin is much rarer in UNC condition than its 1971 10sen. Furthermore the current price is lower than the 1971 10sen. If you are wise you should know which one to be given priority right ?

7)1969 - 50sen (2million pcs minted) Highly sought after and very high profile !
Even with the high mintage of 2million pieces minted how many UNC condition can you find ? It is much rarer than the 1971 10sen. According to the NGC census report there are only 37pcs (Security Edge) graded and only 34pcs (Security Edge) were graded as UNC as at today 10/01/14.

Note : there are many unscrupulous sellers would claim their coin condition are UNC condition but the surface of their coin is similar like the surface of the moon. Hence dont be disappointed when NGC graded as AUNC or worse EF. These type of sellers are common on Ebay.




1969 - 50sen Milled Edge (No security edge)
According to the NGC census report there are only 9pcs graded and just a minor 3pcs were graded "UNC" as at today 10/01/14.

Based on NGC census report do you still think the 1971 10sen still rare ? Your answer is as good as mine.
